Airbnb Korea to evict listings not submitting business license

Airbnb Korea announced on Tuesday that it will require new listings on the platform to submit business registration information and a business license starting Oct. 2, and will gradually remove non-registered listings.

Existing listings will be given a one-year grace period to submit their information and business license.

If they fail to do so, they will be removed from the platform.

The move is expected to result in the complete removal of office buildings that are unable to report their lodging business in 2025.

“We understand that there have been misconceptions about the safety of Airbnb listings and concerns about the number of undeclared listings on the platform,” said Seo Ga-yeon, country manager of Airbnb Korea. 

”We hope this will help dispel those misconceptions and increase the trust of users in Korea. Airbnb has a systematic support system in place to ensure listings are safe, and we're working to reduce the risk by blocking suspicious listings before they're listed and having a robust review system,” she added.
