Modetour, Air France-KLM strengthen SAF partnership

South Korea's travel agency Modetour Network Inc. announced on Thursday that it has extended its partnership with Air France-KLM to promote the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The SAF program, initiated by Air France-KLM in 2021, aims to enhance SAF adoption and reduce carbon emissions globally among corporations and travel agencies.

Modetour was the first Korean travel agency to engage in a purchase agreement for SAF last February.

SAF, derived from eco-friendly sources like used cooking oil and household waste, can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional fossil fuels.

Modetour will estimate the annual carbon emissions generated during flight operations for travel packages and contribute an annually customized fund. Air France-KLM will utilize this contribution to purchase SAF and share performance reports with Modetour.

Both companies have promised to cooperate for sustainable travel closely.

Modetour will expand its sustainable travel package offerings to include SAF-blended flights and eco-friendly accommodations provided by Air France-KLM.

Currently, Modetour offers a 9-day eco-sustainable travel package in Northern Europe and a 10-day eco-travel package in France.

The company plans to expand its offerings to include destinations such as Switzerland, the Benelux countries, and Austria, and to integrate SAF-blended flights into its signature and concept tour packages.
