South Korea's Samsung Engineering is ramping up its strategies in the carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) arena by securing partnerships with leading global enterprises.
The firm disclosed on Thursday a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Canadian carbon capture specialist, Svante. This agreement focuses on collaboration across Asia and the Middle East.
Svante, known for its innovative nano-filter-based carbon capture technique, will join forces with Samsung to streamline and optimize the deployment of carbon capture facilities in various plants.
Additionally, Samsung Engineering recently confirmed a joint development agreement (JDA) with the UK-based Carbon Clean, a company renowned for its CycloneCC technology. This technology significantly minimizes the footprint of carbon capture infrastructures using a specialized rotor.
The collaborative vision between Samsung Engineering and Carbon Clean revolves around the ideation, development, and showcasing of OCCS-centric carbon capture modules, drawing from Carbon Clean's proprietary technology.
The relevance of OCCS, a solution to trap carbon released during maritime activities, continues to soar as the industry awaits the normalization of clean fuel. This innovation is gaining traction and is predicted to witness substantial demand in the near future.
By consecutively joining forces with top-tier tech giants, Samsung Engineering foresees a notable amplification of its vanguard stance in the CCUS industry.
