S.Korean gov't to support export of postnatal care centers

The South Korean government will support the overseas expansion of domestic postnatal care centers. 

South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on Monday the development plan for lifestyle services including the export postnatal care culture. Deputy Prime Minister Kyungho Choo convened the emergency ministerial meeting on economic affairs and meeting on exports. 

South Korea's postnatal care centers are well known for attracting foreign mothers to give birth, so much so that some domestic centers have expanded into China and the US, spreading the "K-postnatal care" culture. However, there has been little systematic government support in this area.

The government plans to support the export of a consortium consisting of postpartum care-related businesses, including hospitals, childcare product manufacturers, and beauty device companies. When postnatal care centers and medical institutions venture abroad, they will be given preferential treatment in the government support selection process.

The government will also provide support for legal, tax, and other advisory services, as well as cover overseas marketing costs.

Through organizations such as the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, information on market trends in countries where postpartum care centers are promising will be provided.
