Ground X, Kakao Corp.'s blockchain technology subsidiary, said on Monday that the number of cumulative subscribers to its digital asset wallet "Klip" has surpassed 2 million.
Klip, released in June 2020, was developed so that anyone can use it conveniently based on a high degree of usability, security, and scalability, and exceeded 100,000 subscribers on the first day of release.
Since then, it has expanded convenience features such as app-to-app application program interface (API) integration and token exchange and has topped 2 million subscribers in 2 years and 6 months since its launch.
Ground X cited high accessibility and continuous service upgrade as the success factors for reaching 2 million subscribers. The company improved accessibility by releasing Klip as a standalone app in July last year.
Last month, the service was upgraded by starting multi-chain support so that not only Klaytn but also Ethereum-based digital assets can be stored in Klip.
In particular, the "Gaejugi" (pole dancing dog) non-fungible token (NFT), which was recently introduced in partnership with DC Inside, gained great popularity, leading to an explosive increase in new Klip subscribers in such a short period of time, leading to a breakthrough beyond 2 million.
"Klip is Korea's leading digital asset wallet service that anyone can easily use even if they do not know what blockchain is. In the future, we will introduce more diverse NFT-based services such as tickets, certificates, and memberships to develop into a user-friendly crypto wallet service," said Yang Ju-il, CEO of Ground X.
