South Korean haircare brand ModaModa launched its second-generation hair darkening shampoo "ModaModa Zero Gray Black Shampoo" on Thursday.
Previously, ModaModa faced safety concerns after the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety designated "1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene" (THB), a key ingredient in its "Pro-change Black Shampoo."
A ModaModa source emphasized that the newly introduced "Zero Gray Black Shampoo" contains a new polyphenol ingredient called 'Black Change Complex EX' with added hair coating effects and does not contain THB.
The product has been registered in the European cosmetic products notification portal (CPNP) and has received an excellent rating from Dermatest in Germany, confirming its safety.
"We have received an excellent rating from Dermatest in Germany, which means it is superior in terms of safety and sensitivity, similar to sanitary napkins," ModaModa's CEO Bae Hyung-Jin said.
ModaModa plans to expand its international presence following the launch of this new product. It is currently available in markets such as the United States, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Southeast Asia and Japan.
In the second half of this year, the company introduced its new product on Japan's TV Asahi and signed business agreements with organizations and companies in Brazil and Poland.
