Cosmax Inc., South Korea's cosmetics original design manufacturing (ODM) company, said on Thursday that it would start targeting the Japanese market in earnest.
Last week, the company participated in COSME Week 2023, Japan's largest cosmetics industry trade show, from Jan. 11 to 13 and showed off its technical prowess.
Cosmax will start local production in Japan in 2025 by establishing a plant in Bando City, Ibaraki Prefecture, outside Tokyo.
For this purpose, a contract was signed for a 16,000-square-meter site, and construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of this year.
With this plant as the production base, the company plans to secure not only Japanese customer firms but also those overseas that wish to purchase cosmetic ingredients from the plant.
