South Korea's Shinhan Card said on Wednesday that the cumulative issuance of its travel-specialized card, the Shinhan SOL Travel Card (available in both credit and debit card versions), has reached 1.2 million.
Launched in February, the SOL Travel Card saw a significant boost during the peak vacation season in Aug., recording a monthly usage amount of 234.1 billion won ($174.8 million), surpassing 200 billion won in monthly usage for the first time.
Earlier, within just three months of its release, the card had exceeded 100 billion won in monthly usage, followed by 137.2 billion won in June and 199.3 billion won in July, culminating in a cumulative usage amount of 840.8 billion won ($627.9 million) by August.
The cumulative domestic usage amounted to 310.6 billion won ($232 million).
Shinhan Card has added a Switch feature to the Shinhan SOL Travel Card, allowing customers to choose their payment method.
The Switch service enables users to select credit or debit payment options using a single card.
