Woori Bank Vietnam opens PB branch in Hanoi

South Korea's Woori Bank revealed on Tuesday that the Vietnamese corporation Woori Bank Vietnam opened its 22nd branch in Starlake, Hanoi.

Starlake, located in the Tay Ho District of downtown Hanoi, is a mixed-use complex with various functions including residential, commercial, administrative, and cultural. It gained attention earlier with the opening of the large commercial complex Lotte Mall in early September this year.

The Starlake office will be the first Woori Bank Vietnam branch to run a private banking (PB) signature service exclusively for local high-net-worth customers.

The opening ceremony was attended by key local officials, including To Huy Vu, Director General of the International Cooperation Department, State Bank of Vietnam, and Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department.

Many Korean figures, such as the President of the Hanoi Korean Association Jang Eun-suk, the President of the Korean-Vietnamese Family Association Jang Woo-yeon, and the President of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Heung Sun, also participated. Park Hang-seo, the former manager of the Vietnam national football team, became the first customer of the Starlake branch.

"In May, we launched Dutch Pay service, reflecting local characteristics, in collaboration with the Vietnamese messenger app Zalo, and received a great response," a Woori Bank source said. "We plan to continuously improve the non-contact platform Woori Won Vietnam and expand local retail operations in line with market trends, leveraging our 22 networks across Vietnam."
