Samsung Electronics Co. signed a business agreement with KB Kookmin Card and American Express on Tuesday for the launch of an Internet-of-Things (IoT) card.

The three companies have decided to collaborate to provide a credit card location tracking service based on Samsung's SmartThings Find platform.

SmartThings Find is a location tracking service that uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to quickly locate various types of Samsung devices, including Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and more.

By applying SmartThings Find to credit cards and connecting them with Samsung Galaxy smartphones, users can access functions such as IoT card location tracking domestically and internationally, notifications when the smartphone and IoT card move apart, and finding the connected smartphone when it is misplaced.

In the case of losing a wallet during overseas travel, users can locate the IoT card or the wallet containing the card using the SmartThings Find service on their Galaxy smartphone.

Through the latest collaboration, Samsung Electronics will provide the technology for integrating IoT cards with SmartThings Find, while KB Kookmin Card and American Express will be responsible for IoT card development, issuance, and payment systems.
