Woori Bank launched a 3D-based metaverse pilot service, the bank said on Friday.
The bank will provide two services, one for interaction with small business owners, and another for the education and training of its employees, through a local startup Grid Inc.'s metaverse platform "Moim," a Korean word that means a gathering of people with a purpose.
Small business owners can enter the metaverse branch both through computers and mobile devices and telecommunicate with the head of the center regarding government-subsidized loans, commercial district and location analysis, and support for establishing various business plans from 9 am to 4 pm.
In particular, Woori transformed the 2D-based "Woori Metabranch," which has been in operation since Dec. 2021, into a 3D-based platform to enhance users' immersion and usability.
Woori will also use the metaverse as a digital training center. "Employees can get training and lectures from invited specialists in the digital space which complemented the drawbacks of both in-person and contactless education," said the bank.
It plans to add more lecture programs to the cyber training center and will utilize it as a base to strengthen its employees' digital capabilities.
"We plan to officially launch the metaverse service in the first half of this year by reflecting user feedback," said a Woori Bank official, adding, "We will provide various services so that customers can experience through various mediums such as XR (extended reality) devices."
