Hyundai Motor Co. 's IONIQ 9 and Kia Corp. 's EV9 GT were selected as America’s Most Anticipated New Vehicles 2025 by Newsweek.
This is the inaugural year of Newsweek Autos’ Most Anticipated New Vehicles awards. The program features a diverse group of new-to-market, redesigned, and powertrain-updated vehicles, including a mix of gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric models.
Newsweek Auto editors chose this year’s winners based on their anticipated industry impact, importance to the market, brand relevance, and cool factor. The award program highlights new-to-market vehicles.
The award highlights Hyundai Motor's and Kia’s flagship electric models, showcasing their advanced electrification technology.
The Hyundai IONIQ 9, a three-row, all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) is set to debut at the IONIQ 9 World Premiere event later this month in the US.
It's designed on the E-GMP platform with a spacious interior ‘Aerosthetic’ design for optimized efficiency.
Following the release of teaser images, showcasing the sleekly designed character lines, signature parametric pixel lighting, and multi-spoke wheels embodying speed and dynamism, the IONIQ 9 has garnered high market anticipation.

The Kia EV9 GT, also chosen as a highly anticipated model alongside the IONIQ 9, is a high-performance version of Kia’s flagship large electric SUV, the EV9, based on the E-GMP platform.
The EV9 GT features a large 99.8 kWh battery, a 400/800-volt multi-ultrafast charging system, and wireless (OTA) software updates, a distinctively innovative interior and exterior design. It is expected to appeal strongly to premium electric SUV consumers looking for luxury and high-performance options.
