INCHEON -- Italian sports car maker Ferrari S.p.A. on Thursday unveiled the 12Cilindri with a V12 petrol engine in South Korea for the first time in Asia to expand its presence in the luxury segment of the region’s fourth-largest economy.
The two-seat 12Cilindri, which can reach 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour in 2.9 seconds, debuted globally on May 3 in Miami, US, to attract affluent customers who love powerful roaring internal combustion engines.
“The 12Cilindri is a car for only a few with a high vision and standards for Ferrari, who precisely understand the unique sensibility of 12 cylinders and Ferrari’s DNA,” the automaker said.
Ferrari hosted the Asia premiere of the new model in Korea to speed up its growth in the country. The supercar maker sold 339 units here in 2023, up 12.3% from a year earlier, according to media reports.
The company also unveiled the Purosangue, its first-ever four-door, four-seat sport utility vehicle, in the country — also for the first time in Asia.
OVER 340 KM/H
The 12Cilindri is equipped with Ferrari’s iconic 12-cylinder gasoline engine, the same kind found in the Purosangue.

The mid-front mounted engine yields 830 horsepower with maximum revs rising to 9,500 revolutions per minute (RPM) for a top speed of over 340 km/h.
The supercar is inspired by Ferrari’s historic grand-tourer (GT) models of the 1950s and 1960s, according to the company.
Ferrari is expected to begin shipping the 12Cilindri to Korea next year, though the company has not yet decided on prices in the country.
