South Korea's IL Science Co. said on Monday that it signed a contract with the US-based automotive electronics company Polymer Optics to supply an initial 3,000 units to a European motorcycle manufacturer.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the two firms in November last year during a state visit by the South Korean president to the UK, celebrating 140 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Under the deal, IL Science will provide silicon lenses, enabling Polymer Optics to produce LED (light-emitting diode) lamps for use in cars and motorcycles.
Known for developing the world's first LED-specific silicon lenses, IL Science has recently ventured into the automotive electronics sector, offering silicon lenses as a durable and efficient alternative to traditional glass and plastic in vehicle lighting.
