Hyundai Mobis has strengthened its competitiveness in future mobility by filing numerous patents in the electric and autonomous driving fields.
The company revealed on Monday that it applied for over 1,200 patents last year in core areas such as electrification and self-driving, as well as in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI).
This represents half of the total 2,500 patents filed by Hyundai Mobis worldwide last year, with over 1,200 in South Korea and over 1,300 overseas.
The cumulative number of patents secured by Hyundai Mobis until last year, including designs and trademarks, totaled more than 9,200.
The company also established the One Team to advance future technology, engaging in ongoing activities for the development of innovative patents.
The company emphasizes collaborative efforts across patent inventors, dedicated legal teams, and specialized engineers throughout the entire patent process, from selection to development, design, and detailed patent extraction.
Hyundai Mobis encourages patent activities by awarding a total prize money of 100 million won ($75,000) to outstanding patent inventors and organizations in its internal Patent Awards held on Feb. 29.
The company provides the latest trends in patents and supports regular seminars on future technologies for overseas research center employees in North America, Europe, and India.
