Daedong Gear Co., a powertrain subsidiary of South Korea’s Daedong Group, announced on Thursday that it has won a 183.6 billion won ($137 million) components order from Hyundai Motor Co. for the automaker’s new electric vehicle (EV) platform Output Shaft Sub Ass’y.
These parts are the core of the EV drivetrain, playing a key role in transferring the motor's power to the vehicle's wheels.
The supply period is from 2025 to 2036. The order value is 76% of the company's annual revenue.
Daedong Gear plans to utilize precision gear grinding techniques in the production of these output shafts, aiming to minimize noise in Hyundai Motor's EV.
