Hyundai Mobis, Wind River to build digital space for SDV

South Korea’s Hyundai Mobis announced on Monday that it will build a digital twin system named M.Dev Studio with the US-based software company Wind River.

Wind River is the global leading firm in the digital twin software and solution area. M.Dev Studio is designed to develop software-defined vehicles (SDVs), a future concept in mobility. It replicates on-site vehicle development environments in digital space.

This enables to simulate and remote monitoring of various technologies, addressing the increasing complexity and data processing needs of in-vehicle components.

The system allows engineers to virtually identify and resolve issues in on-site vehicles, from the initial development stages through to final evaluations.

It enables the testing of virtual sensors and controllers in diverse environments and allows for the assessment of autonomous driving systems under various scenarios.

M.Dev Studio also supports collaborative testing by multiple developers within a unified system, streamlining the development process.

This strategy is expected to accelerate component development, improve the reliability of verification and evaluation, and facilitate the management of multiple projects simultaneously, ultimately reducing development time and costs.

Hyundai Mobis plans to implement the system next year, applying it directly in component design, verification, and evaluation.
