Hyundai Motor Co. on Monday announced the launch of its first-ever high-performance electric vehicle (EV) of its N brand, the IONIQ 5 N.

The new EV boasts cutting-edge technologies like high-performance all-wheel drive, an 84-kWh high-output battery, and a thermal management system specialized for electric vehicles.

The IONIQ 5 N has a maximum power output of 448 kW (609 horsepower) and torque of 740 Nm (75.5 kilogram-force meters). With the utilization of N Grin Boost technology, the car's performance can be elevated to 478kW (650 horsepower), allowing it to go from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

Additional features include N Pedal for enhanced cornering using regenerative braking, N Drift Optimizer to make drifting easier, and N Torque Distribution, which allows drivers to manually adjust power distribution to the front and rear wheels.

The car will also offer a battery thermal management system, with N Battery Preconditioning and N Race options designed to optimize battery temperature for everyday driving and track conditions, respectively.

To mark the launch, Hyundai has rolled out a range of marketing initiatives. Prospective customers who sign a contract for the IONIQ 5 N from today until November will have an opportunity to be selected for a consumer test drive program via a lottery.

Winners will be invited to the Taean Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) Driving Experience Center on September 22 to experience various driving programs.
