Revuelto, Lamborghini's first PHEV, launched in S.Korean market

Italian supercar brand Automobili Lamborghini unveiled its first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) super sports car, the "Revuelto," in South Korea on Friday.

Created in celebration of Lamborghini's 60th anniversary, the Revuelto takes its name from a bull that appeared in bullfighting events in Barcelona, Spain, in the 1800s and means "mixed" in Spanish.

Francesco Scardaoni, Head of Lamborghini Asia Pacific, introduced the Revuelto at the media launch event held at Korea Times Aviation in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, saying that it is the "perfect fusion of a V12 engine and electrification, creating two new worlds."

The Revuelto combines the "symbol of Lamborghini," the V12 engine found in core models such as the Murciélago and Aventador, with three electric motors to produce an explosive performance of 1,015 horsepower.

It achieves a zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 2.5 seconds and can reach 200 km/h (124 mph) in less than 7 seconds. The top speed is 350 km/h (217 mph).

Lamborghini explained that the combination of electric torque vectoring (which distributes power to each wheel) and all-wheel drive available in electric driving mode contributes to these performance capabilities.

The company added that the Revuelto not only assists the engine with an electric motor but also maximizes performance while reducing exhaust emissions through a new hybrid architecture and an upgraded naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine.

Scardaoni revealed in an interview following the launch event, "The allocation of Revuelto units assigned to Korea until 2025 has been already sold out," expressing the initial response.

According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, Lamborghini sold 143 units in the January-May period this year, a 27% increase compared to the same period last year. In 2022, Lamborghini sold 403 units in Korea, ranking eighth in the world.

Scardaoni emphasized that Lamborghini, as a brand that has become a "dream" for many customers, aims to remain a dream and not solely focus on expanding sales volume.
