Hyundai Motor Co. announced on Thursday that it launches the second-generation Kona EV, also known as the The All-New Kona Electric.
The Kona Electric is equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery and can travel up to 417 km (based on the Long Range model with 17-inch wheels) on a single charge, according to the certification standards of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Kona Electric comes in a special color called Meta Blue Pearl and features the Eco Package (dark gray monotone) in its interior. Choosing the Eco Package adds features such as mesh material headrests for the front seats, eco-friendly natural leather and suede seats, and headlining and floor mats made of recycled materials.
Hyundai has also included features such as wireless (over-the-air) software updates to keep the vehicle up-to-date, the next-generation infotainment system Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, and the CarPay-linked e-Hi-pass feature that allows payment without a physical card, as standard on the Kona Electric.
The Kona Electric is priced at 46.54 million won ($35,100) for the Standard Premium model, 49.68 million won ($37,480) for the Long Range Premium model, and 53.23 million won ($40,160) for the Inspiration model.
Considering the excise tax exemption and EV subsidies applicable to electric vehicle purchases, it is expected that the Standard Premium model can be purchased for less than the mid-30 million won range, while the Long Range Premium model can be obtained for just over the mid-30 million won range.
