The Chevrolet Trax Crossover, a utility vehicle mass produced by General Motors Korea, is soon expected to exceed 10,000 preorders amid greater-than-expected demand.
Industry sources on Sunday said the Trax Crossover, which was officially released on Wednesday, saw 6,000 preorder contracts on Friday afternoon, just two and a half days after its release.
Considering the high rate of contracts on Mondays since car dealers do not usually receive contract applications on weekends, the number of Trax Crossover preorders this week is highly likely to exceed 10,000. This would break under seven days GM Korea's mark held by the Chevrolet New Malibu of 10,000 in eight business days.
GM Korea is known to be excited over the unexpected response to its new car, an ambitious release by the company's domestic plant. By the second quarter, it plans to use its factories in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, and the Bupyeong district of Incheon to maximize output of the Trax Crossover.
