Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. posted the highest sales record in the US market in January. Hyundai Motor America said on Wednesday that it sold 52,001 units in the month, up 9% from the same month in 2022.

With this, Hyundai Motor Group set a new monthly unit sales record for three consecutive months. Retail sales for individual customers were also compiled at 48,247, the highest figure for six months in a row.

Hyundai Motor's favorable January sales performance was led by eco-friendly cars. Sales of Elantra hybrid vehicles soared by 574% compared to a year ago, as well as Kona EVs (334%), Santa Fe hybrids (191%), and IONIQ 5 (57%).

As well as Hyundai Motor, Kia America also announced that it set a new sales record for six straight months by posting the highest sales record ever in January. Last month, Kia sold 51,983 units, up 22.3% from the same month last year.

Four vehicle models, including the Niro, Sportage, Telluride, and Carnival, set new sales records, and electric car sales increased 128% compared to the same period a year ago.
