Global experts to discuss alternative investment at ASK 2022

Korean and overseas LPs and GPs will share their insights on alternative investment trends and strategies

The Korea Economic Daily will host ASK 2022, or Alternative Investment Summit Korea 2022, at the Conrad Seoul hotel on May 18. More than 800 alternative investment professionals from around 100 financial institutions will join the biannual conference.

The event will be aired on The Korea Economic Daily Global Edition website (kedglobal.com) and the forum’s official website (kedask.com) from 9 a.m. Wednesday Seoul time.

The speakers at keynote speeches and panel discussions will share their opinions on global alternative investment amid the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes and growing inflation concerns.     

Jin Seoungho, the chief executive of sovereign wealth fund Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) will give a keynote speech on Korean limited partners’ alternative investment principles and trends. Scott Kleinman, co-president of Apollo Asset Management, will talk about risks and opportunities in the private equity market.   

Symon Drake-Brockman, co-founder of Pemberton Asset Management, will explain direct lending opportunities in Europe. Zach Lewy, founder of Arrow Global Group, will forecast European banking sector dislocation and changes in private lending.

Jeff Akers, head of secondary investments at Adams Street Partners, will discuss inefficiencies in the secondary market and changes in LP-GP relationships. Thomas Friedberger, the deputy chief executive officer at Tikehau Capital, will talk about recent trends in the global energy transition.  

For the real assets panel, Park Chun-seok (Richard CS Park), chief investment officer at Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives (KFCC) will deliver a keynote speech as a Korean institutional investor. Robert Morse, executive chairman at Bridge Investment Group, will also give a keynote speech on investing in real estate in the rising interest rate environment.

Vincent Nobel, head of asset based lending at Federated Hermes, will talk about driving performance in real estate debt. Lennart Blecher, head of the real assets advisory team of EQT Partners will explain why global investors currently need to eye core infrastructure assets. 

Some CIOs and working-level professionals of major Korean LPs will discuss particular institutional investor’s strategies. Heo Jang, CIO of Public Officials Benefit Association (POBA), Lee Kyu-hong, CIO of Teachers’ Pension (TP), Lee Sang-hee, Military Mutual Aid Association (MMAA) and Jeon Kyung-cheol, executive director at Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance will share their opinions.

For the discussion on overseas real estate, Harry Song, head of overseas real estate investment at POBA, Jong-min Lee, head of real estate finance at KFCC, and Jiroo Eoh, head of real assets at ABL Life Insurance will join the panel.

Some infrastructure investment leaders from state-run institutions and insurers will participate in panel discussions. Ahn Ji-yong, head of infrastructure at National Pension Service (NPS), Choi Seo-jin, the infrastructure team head at KIC, Kim Chan-woo, head of overseas alternative investment at Kyobo Life Insurance, and Jake Lee, the infrastructure team head at Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, will join as panelists.
