SK Telecom Co. on Sunday said it will develop a large language model (LLM) specifically for the communications sector with Deutsche Telekom of Germany.

In cooperation with the San Francisco-based Anthropic, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) company with investment from Amazon, and Meta, SK Telecom and Deutsche Telekom will develop an LLM model in Korean, German and English customized for telecom companies for launch by the first quarter of next year.

Customer services such as AI-based call centers will use the LLM, which both companies will use to advance to Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

SK Telecom added that its AI integration package AI Full Stack Structure and Connection Standards was designated an international standard at a study group held from Oct. 16-20 of the International Telecommunication Union’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector in Geneva, Switzerland.
