Kakao Brain launches web service to turn imagination into images

Kakao Brain, a South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) company owned by Kakao Corp., launched an open beta version of "B^ EDIT," a web service that turns the user’s imagination into images, on Tuesday.

The service, which is based on Kakao Brain’s super-large AI image creation model "Karlo," allows users to create and modify images of their desired style using various functionalities.

Users can choose from 30 styles and enter a prompt, and the service will generate eight images that match the style and prompt within 5-10 seconds.

B^ EDIT also offers features such as outpainting, inpainting and CS2I to help users’ creative activities.

Outpainting expands the image by creating images that match the image generated based on the prompt or the image uploaded by the user.

Inpainting changes a specific area of the image to a new one based on the prompt entered by the user.

CS2I creates a new image that matches the existing one by combining the sketch with the prompt after the user selects and deletes the part that needs to be modified in the image and draws the outline with the desired color.

“Our goal is to make Kakao Brain’s image creation model the most useful and convenient tool for all users and the standard of image creation models,” said Kim Il-doo, CEO of Kakao Brain.

“We will develop tools optimized for image creation technology by continuously upgrading and developing functions that meet the needs of experts, and help create images and produce high-quality images more efficiently,” Kim added.
