Virtual humans debut on Korean Air’s in-flight video

Korean Air Lines Co. released on Thursday a new in-flight safety video featuring a virtual human dressed as a flight attendant.

This is the first time a virtual human has appeared in an in-flight safety video by any airline in the world.

The 5-minute, 12-second video features Rina, a virtual human created by Metaverse Entertainment, a subsidiary of Netmarble F&C, as well as the four-member virtual idol group MAVE:.

Rina, dressed in a Korean Air flight attendant uniform, explains various safety procedures such as how to stow carry-on luggage, the no-smoking policy, and prohibited items on board.

The members of MAVE: play the role of passengers following the safety instructions.

The video is set in a virtual building called the Korean Air Safety Lounge, inspired by the wings and windows of an airplane.

Korean Air created this lounge to make safety procedures easier to understand.

Korean Air developed the video to appeal to a broader range of passengers, including those from different age groups and cultures.

As of its announcement, the video has been shown on all Korean Air flights.
