South Korea’s third-largest mobile carrier, LG Uplus Corp., said on Monday that it will expand its robot business from the existing serving sector to logistics.
For this purpose, LG Uplus has entered into a business agreement with Yujin Robot, a domestic autonomous driving robot solution company, to cooperate in the logistics robot business.
Yujin's "GoCart" is an autonomous driving robot that can transport goods weighing up to 500kg. In 2021, it became the first domestic logistics robot to receive the ISO13482 robot safety standard certification and the third in the world.
LG Uplus will build a stable robot usage environment based on its 5G communication network and platform. In contrast, Yujin Robot will provide high-quality logistics robots and business operation expertise in the market.
Additionally, both companies plan to release subscription-based products to reduce customers' initial investment burden.
"In September last year, we entered the serving robot market through LG Electronics' serving robot 'CLOi' and secured a competitive edge in the market by building a strong partnership with the No.1 domestic serving robot specialist, VD Company," said an official of LG Uplus.
"Following this entry into the logistics robot business, we will continue to expand our base in the robot industry, including delivery and guidance."
