LG Electronics Inc. announced on Monday that it will release the 2024 LG OLED TV and QNED (Quantum nano-emitting diode) TV with enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) performance in the South Korean market on Mar. 13.
The company plans to expand the range of customer choices this year with the dual-track strategy for OLED TV and QNED TV.
The Alpha 11 processor applied to the 2024 LG OLED Evo series boasts a fourfold improvement in AI deep-learning performance compared to the Alpha 9 processor from last year.
Alpha 11 is the first among LG TVs to adjust the picture quality on a pixel-by-pixel basis for content for online video services such as Netflix.
It analyzes the screen to correct colors, making red and yellow colors more vivid in scenes with a warm tone, ensuring that the original intent of the creator is better perceived.
The sound has also been improved. Two additional channels responsible for ambient sounds, such as rain-pattering sounds, provide rich spatial sound, and a feature has been introduced to more clearly adjust the voice of characters that may be mixed in background noise.
The entire OLED Evo lineup for this year received Nvidia G-Sync certification for the first time in the industry, supporting a variable refresh rate of 144 Hz.
LG Electronics explained that with the advanced wireless technology, users can enjoy a smoother experience for various content, including fast-paced shooting games.
The wireless OLED TV lineup, which eliminates all external connection cables except for power, in sizes of 97, 83, and 77 inches, will add a 65-inch model this year.
The wireless OLED TV is scheduled to be released domestically in June.
The world's first wireless transparent OLED TV LG Signature OLED T, which was unveiled at CES 2024, is also scheduled for release later this year.
With 1.3 times more powerful AI performance than the Alpha 7, it finely adjusts brightness by segmenting each scene and corrects image quality by analyzing video genres and on-screen characters.
It also delivers immersive spatial sound with a 9.1.2 channel setup.
Accommodating the needs of customers who desire large and premium LCD TVs, LG Electronics plans to release the 98-inch QNED TV, gradually completing the QNED TV full lineup from small- to medium-sized to extra-large, ranging from 40 inches and above.
