Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with SolarEdge Technologies, the world's leading solar smart inverter company, to promote the dissemination of net-zero homes, a future-oriented housing concept.

South Korean electronic giant explained that through its partnership with SolarEdge, a specialist in smart inverters that convert solar energy into electrical energy, it has laid the foundation for expanding its SmartThings Energy business in Europe.

Previously, Samsung Electronics had collaborated with various solar companies such as Hanwha Q Cells, SMA Solar Technology and Maxeon Solar Technologies.

SmartThings Energy is an energy management solution that monitors energy generation through residential solar panels and reduces energy consumption through AI-powered energy-saving modes.

Starting at the end of this month, SmartThings Energy will provide information on carbon intensity, which is the amount of carbon emissions generated per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity consumed.

In addition, a Resident Demand Response Service will be pilot-operated in California and New York at the end of this month, following its implementation in Seoul and Naju in Korea, where residents voluntarily reduce their energy consumption during peak hours in exchange for incentives provided by local governments.

Samsung Electronics will showcase SmartThings Energy and eco heating system (EHS) energy-saving solutions at "Intersolar Europe," the largest energy exhibition in Europe, held in Munich, Germany, from June 14 to 16.
